From the President of Franklin Meadows – Ed Fromm

Dear Franklin Meadows Residents,

October will be here before we know it. This means Oktoberfest and the election of volunteers for our Franklin Meadows Board of Directors. This group of volunteers has existed since the inception of our neighborhood, some 33 years ago, and the goal has always been the same: Conduct the business of the neighborhood while fostering a positive community atmosphere. There are many benefits to serving, one of which is having your annual dues waived for the years you hold a board seat, but the most important benefit is having the opportunity to meet so many of your neighbors and work with them to make Franklin Meadows the best place to live.

In October the following seats will be open....

President
- The Franklin Meadows President is asked to organize monthly meetings and be the main spokesperson for the neighborhood with community members and municipalities. You are also asked to set goals for the neighborhood, work with homeowners to answer their questions, and work with other board members when help is needed. You would be well suited for this job if you are even tempered, well organized and like working with others to solve problems.

Architectural Director - The person who holds this position is put in charge of helping fellow neighbors understand and work within the by-laws of our neighborhood. You are asked to receive and review construction applications before bringing them before the board of directors for a vote. Finally, you are asked to inform residents when, and if, bylaws have been violated, as long as the residents have followed the procedures set forth in the F. M. bylaws.

Social Director - If you are the party planner in your family then this job is for you. You will be asked to organize social events such as Oktoberfest, Dinner with Santa, our Easter Egg Hunt, and several other smaller events. It is important that you manage and conserve funds. Organizing and using volunteers is key to this position as many hands make light work and we always have people willing to help.

Secretary - The Franklin Meadows Secretary is asked to attend monthly meetings, take minutes of those meetings and make sure they are posted on the web site for all to see. Your input on all agenda items is also important.

Newsletter / Web Site
- This position requires one to have a good understanding of word processing skills and some knowledge to web site design. You are asked to print a newsletter four times a year and update the neighborhood’s web site monthly. A system is already in place for delivering the newsletter to all 256 homes, but you will need to print, get copies made and deliver newsletters to our delivery volunteers. The current board has established goals to utilize the web site with more effectiveness, but lacks the knowledge to do so.

The most important thing to know about all of these board positions is that no matter the task, there are always many residents that are willing to help get the job done. The board has never had a difficult time finding volunteers and it has always been a well known fact that if we need help getting something done, all we need to do is ask!
